Trade Deficit of Bangladesh with China: Patterns, Propensity and Policy Implications

This paper aims to examine export, import and trade intensity, export specialization index, Herfindahl-Hirschman index for bilateral concentration diversification indices analyze the specializations, structure trends of deficit in between Bangladesh China from 1995 2018 policy recommendations this regard. The results reveal that gap intensity is widening rapidly perennial. expose very significant outcomes where among analyzed 16 sectors; 6 sectors exhibit high specialization, 3 demonstrate medium, low rest 4 disclose no Bangladesh’s China. findings Index (HHI) 2010 concentrated within few but year 2011 has been reclassifying steadily into diversification. overall analysis suggests necessity be improved level intra-industry Bangladesh. Moreover, emphasis should given having a endure capacity narrow deficit. Furthermore, baskets require diversified. Hereafter, various measures implications are also suggested recommendation further improvement.
